It was great to be out and about here in Swindon over the special Bank Holiday, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones as we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
One in four women and one in six men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetimes, and in both my professional life as a criminal barrister before 2010 and as an MP who has campaigned on issues such as stalking and coercive control, tackling domestic abuse has long been a priority of mine.
In the 1840s, Swindon, a small market town, was transformed by Great Western Railway, and at its height, the GWR works in Swindon was one of the largest railway engineering complexes in the world.
In March 2021, I was pleased to announce that Swindon was set to benefit from £19.5 million worth of Government investment to help regenerate our town, as part of the Conservative Party’s commitment to levelling up communities across the country.
