Leader of Council
Councillor for Haydon Wick

David Renard has been Leader of the Council and Conservative Group since 2013. He has been a member of Cabinet since 2004 and a Ward Councillor for Haydon Wick since 2002. David represents Swindon Council in various positions including Board Director of the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Member of England’s Economic Heartland, Member of the Western Gateway and Director of the Wichelstowe Joint Venture. He is also the Local Government Association Board Chair for Economy, Environment, Housing and Transport, and Director of Localis ‘Think Tank’. 

Prior to becoming Leader of Council, David was Deputy Leader and has held the portfolios covering Children’s Services, Adult Social Care and Health and Housing.

This is thanks to the Council investing in solar farms and work with the central government to have the 62MW solar farm installed at Wroughton.
